Practitioner - Supported Community Accommodation

About the Position

Anglicare’s Children & Families have a long history of providing family and children support services, including family intervention, foster and kinship care, counselling, relationship support and much more. Our Supported Community Accommodation Service assists young people living in out of home care aged between 14 and 17 to develop the skills they require to live independently by providing practical support and guidance to access other community support services, engagement in employment or training, positive connection with family and other significant adults, and life skills to support independent living and stability of accommodation.

We are looking for two full time Practitioners based in Logan, for fixed term contracts, commencing ASAP until end October 2019. In partnership with Youth Justice, the position will support young people into SCA and provide a shared-support care environment under a strengths-based framework. You will also facilitate transition out of the service and into the community.

 

About You

As an experienced Case Manager within the youth and family sector you will have a great attitude and genuine passion for supporting young people, and offer:

  • Demonstrated experience in child protection, youth justice or youth work within residential programs
  • Strong and effective case management, including risk and needs assessments
  • A background in planning and implementing strategies based on individual needs and behaviours
  • Capacity to support and assist youth workers to develop the necessary skills and resilience to be successful
  • A highly collaborative and consultative manner, liaising with external stakeholders including Youth Justice
  • Completion of complex documentation on time and within required guidelines
  • Problem solving skills, an innovative approach and ability to think outside the box
  • Exceptional capacity to communicate with a range of people including parents and other support networks
  • Negotiation and influencing skills, able to present information in a manner well suited to your audience
  • Ethical standards, integrity and understanding of the professionalism to maintain confidentiality
  • Demonstrated understanding of continuous quality improvement with a consistent focus on child safety and wellbeing, following best practice procedures                                                                      

Qualifications and documentation required:

  • Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioural Sciences or similar field
  • A valid Blue Card (Working with Children)
  • Current Licensed Care Service (LCS)
  • A current Queensland Driver Licence
